This Privacy Policy explains how Plate Forge (“we”, “us”, “the app”) handles information when you use our mobile application on Android and iOS.

1. Summary

  • Local-first by default. Workout plans, sessions, goals, and progress are stored on your device. Solo use does not require an online account.
  • Optional coach↔mentee sync. When you create or accept a coach invite, selected training data is synced through Google Firebase so a coach and mentee can share programs and session results across devices.
  • Analytics and crash reports are optional. You choose on first launch and can change the choice in Settings. We do not send exercise names, weights, reps, or training notes to analytics.
  • The free version shows ads served by Google AdMob. Where required by law, Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP) asks for ad privacy choices separately from analytics.
  • Optional premium subscription unlocks coach invites and program sync, mentee training reports (local export), a higher training-account cap, and removes ads. Purchases are processed by Google Play or the App Store, not by us directly.

2. Information stored on your device

The app stores the following locally on your phone or tablet (ObjectBox database and app files):

  • Workout plans, schedules, and completed training sessions
  • Custom exercises and exercise preferences
  • Training goals, gamification progress, and achievements
  • App settings (language, theme, units, rest timers, analytics preference)
  • Multiple training profiles (“accounts”) if you create them
  • Optional profile photos you choose for a training account (saved in app storage)
  • Local copies of coach↔mentee membership and invite metadata when you use sync

Uninstalling the app or using in-app delete flows removes the corresponding local data. Synced cloud copies (if any) are covered in sections 3–4 and account deletion.

3. Optional online features (premium, promo, and auth)

When you use premium, promo, or sign-in features, limited data is sent to Google Firebase (project plate-forge):

  • Firebase Authentication:
  • Anonymous or store-linked IDs for subscription validation and promo redemption when needed
  • Stable sign-in (Google or email/password; Apple when available on iOS) for coaches who create invites and push linked programs
  • Firebase Auth for mentees who join a coach (anonymous Auth is allowed for join)
  • Cloud Functions: validate subscription purchases (when enabled), redeem promo codes, and redeem coach invite codes. Store purchase tokens or receipts may be sent for validation; we do not receive your payment card details.
  • Cloud Firestore:
  • Subscription records under users/{uid}/subscription
  • FCM device tokens under users/{uid}/devices when you enable coach notifications (for coach↔mentee alerts only)
  • Coach↔mentee membership and training sync documents under memberships/{membershipId}/… (see section 4)
  • Legacy full-device backups under users/{uid}/backups/current may exist from earlier builds or internal QA; this is not a current product feature and is not offered in the app UI for end users.
  • Firebase App Check may run to help protect backend APIs from abuse.

Free users who do not use premium, promo, or coach sync do not upload training content to Firestore.

Promo codes are created manually by the developer for testers or friends; they are not public self-service registration.

4. Optional coach↔mentee training sync

Coach invite and live sync are optional. They apply only when a coach creates an invite (premium required) and a mentee accepts it.

What may sync between the linked coach and mentee devices (via Firestore):

  • Coach-assigned workout programs and planned exercises (including referenced custom exercises)
  • Schedule rules and schedule exceptions (skip / move day)
  • Mentee session results (performed sets and related session fields)

What stays local and is not synced as training cloud content:

  • Goals, gamification plate totals / ranks, achievements, and device preferences
  • Profile photos and unrelated local-only settings

Roles:

  • Coach signs in with a stable identity, must have an active premium entitlement to create invites and push structure/schedule changes; if premium lapses, coach writes freeze while pull of mentee results may continue
  • Mentee authenticates with Firebase Auth (anonymous allowed), may use the free tier for join and logging results on linked workouts

Either party may unlink; local copies can remain on the device in a frozen state while cloud sync for that membership stops. See account deletion for removing online membership data.

Optional push alerts: When enabled in Settings → Device → Coach notifications, Firebase Cloud Messaging may deliver alerts such as a new coach-assigned program or a mentee finishing a linked session. Notification text does not include exercise names, weights, reps, or notes. You can turn this off anytime in Settings; Delete online data removes stored FCM tokens for your Firebase user.

5. Optional usage analytics and crash reporting

If you allow analytics, we use Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to understand how the app is used and to fix crashes. Collection is disabled until you opt in (or until you enable the toggle in Settings → Privacy & legal).

Events we may send (examples):

  • onboarding_completed
  • session_started — source label and planned set count (numbers only)
  • session_completed — completed set count and exercise count (numbers only)
  • Premium conversion steps — paywall shown, subscription tapped, succeeded, or failed, with a short source or failure category
  • Coach-link activation steps — invite created or shared, invite redemption attempted, succeeded, or failed, and coach–mentee link completed
  • Crash and error diagnostics (stack traces, device/OS metadata)
  • Screen navigation in release builds (screen names, not training content)

We do not send: exercise names, weights, reps, times, distances, workout notes, account names, invite codes, Firebase user IDs, purchase tokens, or other training content to Analytics/Crashlytics. Funnel event parameters are limited to short source/failure categories and numeric counts.

If you choose Continue without analytics, Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics collection remain off.

6. Advertising (free version)

Plate Forge may show Google AdMob advertisements:

  • A banner during idle/rest moments in an active workout
  • A skippable full-screen ad after you finish a workout (when ads are eligible)

AdMob and its partners may collect device identifiers, ad interaction data, and similar information to deliver and measure ads, subject to your choices and applicable law. In the EEA, UK, and other regions where required, Google UMP presents ad privacy options. You can review ad privacy choices from Settings when Google requires it.

Google AdMob information: AdMob & user data.

7. Permissions

  • Camera / photo library — if you set a training account avatar, or scan a coach invite QR code. Images and camera frames are used for those features; avatars are stored locally.
  • Internet — used for ads, optional analytics/crash reporting, in-app purchases, promo redemption, coach↔mentee sync, auth, app update checks, and opening legal links. Core solo workout features work offline.

8. Legal bases (EEA / UK / similar regions)

  • Local training data: processed on your device to provide the service you request.
  • Coach↔mentee sync and auth: processed to provide the linking service you request (contract / service performance).
  • Analytics and crash reporting: your consent (you can withdraw it in Settings).
  • Advertising: your consent or other lawful basis as presented by Google UMP and applicable law.

9. Data retention

  • Local training data remains until you delete it in the app, delete a training account, or uninstall the app.
  • Firebase Auth IDs, premium/promo records, and coach↔mentee membership / sync documents in Firestore remain until you unlink, use Delete online data in Settings (where available), or request deletion by email (see account deletion).
  • Analytics and crash data retained by Google are governed by Google’s policies and your consent settings.

10. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of personal data, or to object or withdraw consent.

  • Training data: manage or delete in the app (e.g. delete plans, accounts, or uninstall).
  • Coach sync: unlink memberships in the app; request cloud deletion as described in account deletion.
  • Analytics: toggle off in Settings → Privacy & legal → Usage analytics.
  • Ads: use Google’s ad privacy options when offered, or subscribe to premium for an ad-free experience where available.
  • Premium: manage or cancel subscriptions through Google Play or the App Store account settings.

12. International transfers

Firebase and AdMob may process data on servers outside your country, including the United States, under Google’s standard contractual and security measures.

13. Changes
